Employment Assistance Services

EAS is a federally funded program, under the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities ( MTCU), aiming to provide clients with necessary resources to conduct an effective job search and secure paid employment.

EAS offers assistance in career planning, job search counseling, resume and cover letter creation as well as interview preparation. The skilled employment counsellors at WEST assist you one-on-one to create a Return-to-Work Action Plan that will lead you towards your career/employment goal.

Pre-Employment Service (PES)
The focus of this workshop is to ensure our participants are work-ready. Our motivational staff focus on both hard and soft skills, further ensuring our participants are prepared for any opportunity that may present itself.

WEST staff encourages clients to focus on the self-identification of their own skills, guiding them to understand how previous work or personal experience may translate into viable skills for potential employers. Through this identification process, professional and resumes and cover letters are developed with each participant.

Participants are coached to improve their interview skills and how they present themselves to potential employers. Mock- interviews offer participants a chance to hone their newly developed skills.

Job Club

Operating Tuesdays from 9am to noon, the Job Club is a 6-week program, open to Ontario Works recipients of Windsor-Essex. Information and skills are provided to aid clients with finding employment through a focus on the following topics:
  • Identifying Your Skills
  • Labour Market
  • Resume and Cover Letter Creation
  • Interview Skills
  • Employment Maintenance
If you would like to register for the Job Club program, please contact us at (519)256-6621.

Volunteer Placement

Adult newcomers need Canadian work experience. This program develops job search and resume writing skills, networking strategies and above all, hands-on experience in their occupations.

Through volunteer placements, newcomers have an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities to a potential employer. As a result, many immigrants are hired following their volunteer placement experience as employers have had an an opportunity to observe the clients professional skills.
