Language and Skills Development Program
Our Language and Skills Training Program is a language training program funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
WEST provides language instruction to adult immigrants to help increase their access to gaining Canadian Employment and/or better integrate into their new Canadian social and professional environment. The courses that are offered are designed to meet women's communication needs in today's world as well as to enhance and further develop interpersonal skills
The LST Program Provides:
Reduction of social isolation
Exchanging ideas and knowledge between individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds
Developing positive attitudes towards people of diverse cultures
Enhancing self-esteem and assertiveness
Before being accepted into this program, an assessment interview will be performed to confirm your eligibility and determine your current language proficiency. The results of this evaluation will enable WEST professionals to appropriately match your current language needs with the appropriate available language training options.
The LST Program consists of a number of instruction levels, ranging from: 1 to 7 and also includes both Full-Time and Part-Time participation.
Eligible clients are adult women, 18 years of age and over, who are Landed Immigrants or Convention Refugees.
