Many immigrants are fortunate enough to be able to realize their dreams in Canada. Doina Tintoi is one of these newcomers. Her success came through hardwork and perseverance despite adversity. Doina had been well established in her home country, having worked in the accounting field for 6 years. When she arrived in Windsor, she needed to find a way to enhance her skills to enjoy successful integration into the Canadain workforce.
One of Doina's strengths was education. Prior to coming to Canada, she obtained a M.Sc. in Accounting and a Bachelor Degree in Economics. After assessing her educational opportunities in Windsor, Doina felt that the Enhanced Language Training (ELT) program would improve her employable skills. Through the employment placement portion of the training program, Doina was able to demonstrate her skills and obtain a full-time position.
Currently, Doina works as a Senior Bookeeper, overseeing the accountants of 5 local partner companies. As a life-long learner, Doina is also pursuing her Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation through WEST's Management Training Program (MTP).
Doina is one of the examples of what newcomers can achieve, how far they can progress and how their triumph is a victory for WEST and for Canada.
